Sound Walks with Laura Denning
– Thursday 24th 5.30 – 6.30
– Saturday 26th 2.00 – 3.00
– Saturday 26th 4.00 – 5.00
Meet in the garden of St. Sidwells Church to join artist Laura Denning and Devon icon St. Sidwell for an hour long walk around the city centre taking in 3 exhibitions in Art Week Exeter – (so only about 30 mins of actual walking!) We will be time travelling with our Saintly Host, both backwards and forwards in time, eavesdropping on the Romans as well as our future selves. Be sure to bring an AWE booklet with you as this is the magic key that unlocks a secret that St. Sidwell keeps hidden in the heart of the city.
‘The (Cake) Stall of Alternative Thoughts’ Monica Shanta Brown
– Saturday 26th 2.30 – 4.30
‘The (Cake) Stall Of Alternative Thoughts’ is a pop-up café installation, where customers are served by artist Monica Shanta, with a WORD. All Words are served with Cakes in a range of flavours. Customers can then relax and consume their Word, and possibly their Cake, in the sky blue décor of ‘The (Cake) Stall of Alternative Thoughts’, while eavesdropping on the conversations of fellow visitors.
‘Tin Reflection’ Katy Richardson and guest performer Luke Richards –
– Saturday 26th 5.30 pm
Tin Reflection is a performance which offsets disintegrating found film footage against increasingly layered sound. Rusty tins and an adapted projector are used to affect the loop, while musician and narrator employ loop pedals to build a wall of sound which gradually replaces the image.
